Saint Lucia is a project exploring the themes of memory and time. The story of this work starts in a charity shop in Manchester. I was wondering around before coming across a basket full of postcards, which I begin to flick through one by one - each as blank as the other. However, I then stumbled across a postcard with writing on the back; I found this bizarre so I pulled it out and began to read. The postcard detailed a trip to St Lucia, from a family to their friends. As I read this story, I could imagine the sights and the specific details the writer had portrayed. From there I made my own images using the story, creating dream-like imagery to comment on how our own memories appear. Furthermore, I chose to use this project for a student exhibition: 'Blink and You'll Miss it', where I created an interactive experience, using the original postcard to to create my own. I also used sound to further the experience so the viewer can fully immerse themselves in my images.
