On the 2nd of January 2024 at 3:55am my mum, Linda Whittaker passed away, from this I put all of my emotion into this short film. It’s a terrifying thing to create something that is as personal as this. On top of that choosing to appear in this short was both unnerving as it was crucial. This is a film about grief and the rollercoaster of emotions it takes you on. The narrative starts slow and builds before crashing picking up and crashing once more to highlight the emotions you go through. I felt a need to put my feelings into making something like this short and I’m extremely happy with what I have been able to achieve. With trial and error, research and experimenting I would not have been able to produce this work. I combined my photography skills alongside my new moving image capabilities to create this blend of film style stills, and experimental narrative storytelling.  This film took around two weeks to write, film and edit. The first and last section link together showing the slow parts of the grieving the middle being this explosion of emotion. This represents how the stages the grief are not linear, the sadness comes back around even amongst the chaos. A small section of the short is below.
